English as a Foreign Language
ELIBA offers
basic to advanced levels of English as a Foreign Language (EFL).
ELIBA's parent organization, AJOB, has been providing English language
training to the limited English speaking community since 1974. Instructors
are all trained to provide quality instruction, and they also have
teaching experience in the United States and abroad to enable them
to teach with an understanding of the diverse culture of people
that ELIBA serves.
Authorized Under Federal Law
This school is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant students (F-1and M-1). The English Language
Institute of the Bay Area (ELIBA) provides training services to students who possess either an F-1 "student" or M-1 "vocational" visa for full-time study.

Entrance
tests required
None. Students
are administered an English placement test upon enrollment and then
placed in the appropriate study level.

Climate &
Geography
Climate: Temperatures
in the Bay Area are generally moderate. Berkeley experiences mostly
sunny days and moderate temperatures in summer and fall, with intermittent
periods of rainfall in the winter and spring months.
Geography: The AJOB Berkeley campus is located in an area known
as "Central Berkeley" and is surrounded by educational, social,
and recreational amenities.
Remarks to
foreign students
ELIBA offers
the ideal curriculum and quality instruction for those international
students desiring to enter an American college or university. It
offers a variety of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and Testing
of EFL (TOEFL) levels to meet the linguistic and test preparation
needs of students.
Professional
international students possessing an M-1 visa will learn business,
clerical and computer literacy skills in order to enhance their
knowledge of the business world.
Additionally,
for no additional cost, all students may enroll in one of a number
of classes in writing, conversation and computer literacy as long
as they have satisfied the minimum required weekly enrollment hours
at ELIBA.
Finally, students
will receive academic and supportive counseling services throughout
their duration of stay at ELIBA. Please note that ELIBA offers a
business and business English-related program for those who possess
or seek an M-1 visa.
